A world leader in automotive production, the client manufacturers commercial and private vehicles on a global scale.

Customer Challenge:

Having served this company for many years – shipping spare parts from multiple UK vendors to a manufacturing facility in Asia – Horizon International were approached to support a significant expansion in volumes required for the launch of a new model. UK-made parts would be required to ship urgently in order to meet launch deadlines and ensure speed to market.

‘The challenge was to provide air space to facilitate this initiative across a 4 month window, shipping engines and associated parts in a fast-flowing production model.’

The migration was significant; having previously provided only small-part solutions, we were now collecting several large trucks per day requiring daily airspace of 50 tonnes.

 

Our Solution:

  • We were able to provide a robust and flexible solution, fulfilling the end-to-end requirements of the client, which included inland transit at destination, while meeting production timescales in Asia.
  • Shipment visibility was just 48 hours, so we had to work with several airlines to manage space commitments according to manufacturing output on an extremely busy trade lane.
  • Horizon offers a variety of transit times on all major and minor shipping lanes, and through our inventory-management capabilities, we are able to align routing options with product availability to plan your ideal shipping solution.
