Gateway to logistics heaven

As the UK’s newest container port, DP World London Gateway offers a range of magnificent facilities that enable it to handle the largest vessels in the world, now and in the future. Strategically located on the north side of the Thames Estuary at Thurrock in Essex, the port is already welcoming its first ships.

When fully completed, its resources will include:

  • 2,700 metres of quay
  • 6 deep water berths with a 17 metres depth alongside
  • 24 giant quay cranes each taller than the London Eye
  • 3.5 million TEU annual capacity

Providing an ideal access point to UK markets and very well served by transport links, London Gateway is the nearest thing to logistics heaven for Horizon International Cargo and its customers. Our London Gateway office at Snodland in Kent is well placed to provide ocean freight services in and out of the UK from this and every other major ocean port in the country.

  • Horizon at London Gateway offers competitive FCL, LCL/Groupage, import/export and cross-trade solutions designed to meet the individual customer demands in full.
  • Horizon’s exceptional expertise, impeccable service quality and international contacts ensure that every customer consignment by land, sea or air reaches its destination safely, securely and on time every time.

And that’s just the beginning, because there’s a lot more in store at Horizon London Gateway.

Warehousing and more

Horizon at London Gateway provides much more than just high quality, competitive shipping and freight forwarding services.  The management of the supply chain is becoming an increasingly sophisticated process, partly due to the growth in the number of smaller groupage container shipments requiring sorting and preparation for onward transit.

These operations must be carried out at a secure location by skilled personnel and that’s exactly what we provide at our 20,000 sq ft warehouse at Snodland which serves customers of our London Gateway office. We have rigorous quality management systems and resources to ensure the safe storage and handling of both high and low volume customer consignments.

Most importantly, our people are reliable and committed. They are directly employed by Horizon and have experience in dealing with all types of products and equipment, including hazardous goods. These range from high value and sensitive items such as pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics and automotive products through to fashion items and printed publications.

Our warehousing facilities and services include:

  • Pallet storage (racking provides 1,800 pallet spaces narrow aisle)
  • Bulk Storage (bulk storage area 6,500 sq ft)
  • Inventory management
  • Re-working
  • Contract packing
  • Pallet distribution

Horizon additionally offers a further 10,000 sq ft of leading edge warehousing facilities adjoining our UK head offices at Colnbrook, close to London Heathrow Airport. This can perform a cross-dock/transit function that can be a useful added-value facility for our customers.

Prime Minister David Cameron has described DP World London Gateway as “an emblem of ambition.” This exceptional container port will attract high volumes of international shipping trade and Horizon is excited at the prospect of being close by and able to benefit from its facilities on behalf of our customers.
